Kentucky Academy of Physician Assistants
Physician Assistants require a direct, continuing, and close supervisory relationship between the Physician Assistant and the physician to whom that assistant is certified. The supervising physician is responsible for activities of the Physician Assistant. Physician Assistants provide medical services within the education, training, and experiences of the PA as delegated by the supervising physician. These services include, but are not limited to:
  • Obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations

  • Ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

  • Formulating a working diagnosis

  • Developing and implementing a treatment plan

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions

  • Assisting at surgery Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs

  • Making appropriate referrals
